Stainless Steel S&S Couplers on Tetra?
#8807 - 05/28/07 10:59 PM (69.245.59.72)

Since I blew it and didn't place the order for Ti S&S couplers for my Tetra in Dec, the price has gone up too high to justify it. I did see that Calfee offers the stainless steel couplers also. Is the only functional difference the weight? I guess there's a chance of rust on the steel, but I thought that I'd ask. Any reason NOT to go for steel?

Thanks,

Steve

Just weight. They work great just take care when packing the frame so you don't damage the carbon by having parts rub on each other. I have a Kirk road frame and a Moots MTB with S&S couplers and really like them. I think a steel or Ti frame makes more sense for a travel bike just because of the additional abuse they can and will take.
