I am 6'2", 200 lbs, ride a Calfee Tetra 62cm, and run Mavic CXP-33 rims on Hugi hubs with 32 spokes. It's been over 5 years now and, not once have these wheels even needed truing. They are well made, robust, laterally stiff and light. I started looking for another wheelset to try out this Spring but, after reading many stories where a spoke broke, nipple broke, tires hard to get on and off, etc. from both pre-built and jack-leg built wheels, I have decided to stick with these another year before I speculate on another pair. I've just been very happy with their performance.

Having said that, I do believe there some good and strong wheel-sets out there, both pre-built and jack-leg built. The more spokes, generally the stronger the wheel. Once you hit the 200 lb mark, it's usually best to focus on the stronger wheels and not worry too much about trying to mimic the weight weenie crowd.

Recommendations? Outside the CXP33, the Krysium SLs (not the ES) look pretty good and, have been out long enough to establish their reliability. On the cheap side Performance sells the Dura-Ace Open Pro's (32 spoke) for $299.
