First post. Seven choice (or serotta??)
#9198 - 10/01/07 07:49 AM (194.176.105.39)

Replacing a Colnago CT-2 that I've loved, fast and snappy, light too. I ride 50-100miles 2-3 x week, and hills+, I want reasonable comfort and a good climber.

I'm kicking around high end Ti and Ti/Carbon mix and look to be settling down to a custom Elium SG/ID8 or a Serotta Legend ST

I know all are good bikes by any definition but I wonder if anyone has any thoughts, especially between the Seven models. I wonder if the slight weight advantage for the Elium is worthwhile or has too much of a flexibility downside in a typical build.

I'm also interested in the seven fitting process 9essentailly 'measure yourself' vs the Serotta bikefit system. Any thoughts?

I have owned a custom Seven Axiom, Serotta Legend Ti and a Serotta Ottrott. I found the Seven to be the best climber and was the lightest frame of the 3. The Seven had great "snap" or acceleration. It was I would say the stiffest frame of the three. The Serotta's are also great bikes, just different. To me the ride quality is more comfort oriented and buttery smooth. Serotta also is not known for light frames. If you're looking for more of a race bike I'd go with the Seven but that's just my opinion.

I have a 2005 Elium SG.
Fast on the flats, stable on the downhills, light up the hills, and sturdy during the sprints... It's a great bike and I have close to 12,000 miles on it.. The only weakness on the bike is me...
