Good every day shorts? new
#8207 - 10/06/06 05:13 PM (66.236.147.253)

By every day, I mean something that are worn a lot and will last. Not just some ordinary ones.

I'm commuting to work now almost every day. Add in the weekend I'm well over 100 miles a week. I'm willing to pay, but really want something that will last, too.

I know it's a personal preference thing. But thoughts on what might be good for frequent use and lots of miles?

I'll have a few pairs since I won't be washing every night.

I wear Zoic baggy shorts on my commutes. They have held up well. I have a 20 mile RT commute and the shorts get washed every day. I have worn the same 2 pair for the past 1 1/2 years. They have proven themselves to be comfortable and durable.
I went with the baggy look because I work at a special needs school with plenty of women co workers and besides getting tired of all the lycra comments by said women,I think they are more appropriate for the situation.

Agreed! Zoic baggies are awesome. However I dump the liner and use my regular shorts underneath, although the liner should not be underestimated!

I have had really good success with the non-glamorous Bellwether Elite shorts. Cheaper than Pearl Izumi/Castelli/etc. without losing any functionality.

Shorts? Bibs? Lycra? Baggies? [Re: Nev]

Nev, which kind of cycling shorts do you seek? That will help guide forum members with their suggestions.

My favorites on a quality-to-dollar value are the wonderful BlackBottoms bib shorts. The fit is great, they're durable, the chamois drys quickly & softly, and the six-panel variant costs about $60.00 with the eight-panel version only slightly more. Great cycling gear for the money and an excellent investment.
