Seven Customer relations? new

I was considering ordering a Seven custom cross frame and sent several emails.(I do not have a local dealer).All went unanswered.

Shortly thereafter,a mint used one came up precisely like what i was considering,so I bought it.My thoughts were that I could use it as a learning platform and tweak the fit or stiffness if I ordered a custom.

The fit was perfect,but the frame was -way- too soft for me.I was not surprised that some aspect of the frame was not right for me,and I could not blame Seven for that.

I called them to discuss ordering a custom,and they would not discuss the frame I had with me,citing privacy issues. I said that I don't want any info on the original purchaser,just frame stiffness and angles.They would not discuss it.

I told them I would buy a frame elsewhere and I did.

How can a company with such poor customer relations expect to stay in business?

To answer your question directly, the standard answer is that,"your mileage will vary."

I have no idea why the customer service person whoever it was, did not give you the information you requested.

Can you measure the frame angles and dimensions yourself? I mean the means are online in countless places, saying how to take such measurements.

My experience is like the original poster. I also bought elsewhere. In my opinion, the worst customer service possible. Their motto should be "it's the least we can do".

The folks at the Seven factory didn't seem to go out of their way when I was considering between an Elium SG and an Elium Race for potential purchase. They really lost interest when I raised the topic of deleting paint on an Elium Race and instead substituting clearcoat over the titanium and carbon fiber.

Result? I went elsewhere.

my turn.... bought a used Seven last week w/o a fork and don't have angles to decide on a fork. Called Seven and "sorry, can't help you". Appeared to not care a bit. I've bought two new bikes in 12 months from other mfgers. Won't be buying a new Seven!!
By the way, I know I can find means of measuring online. However, have been told that since "span" might differ, it could negatively impact handling. Any guidance?

Another tack you might try is to "befriend" a Seven dealer and perhaps they could contact Seven and get the info you need.

Seven's claim of "privacy" for not telling relevant info to owners of used Seven frames is, IMO, bullpuckey. Serotta, Calfee, Dave Kirk, Spectrum and Richard Sachs have all helped me on used frames by them that I've purchased or have contemplated purchasing.
