thinking of ordering a SSR 953..any thoughts/ride impressions?
This bike will be used as my primary training bike; I am getting more and more involved in ultradistance cycling and am looking for a bullet proof frame that is comfortable for long distances.
I already have a super-light calfee for the mountains. I can accept the slight weight penalty of the SSR if it delivers in terms of comfort and handling.

I met someone recently that has one and loves it. This guy has eight bikes and this one is his favorite. My understanding is that it rides like a steel bike but has the added advantage of being stainless so no rust. I have heard that Pegoretti and Strong also makes bikes from Reynolds 953 stainless.

Have you ever looked at a Calfee Bamboo? Craig Calfee said that Bamboo provides the smoothest and most comfortable ride of any frame material. A Bamboo frame will weigh more than carbon fiber but probably less than steel.
Just a thought.

I have heard good things about the bamboo bike. Actually, we are thinking of getting a kids tandem made out of bamboo. I will use that as a test. J
