Anyone else following the TDF this year?
The coverage is only 4 days old but I am already starting to get sick of the massive Team Garmin exposure on Versus. I wonder if they have some sort of agreement to be the featured team each day. Don't get me wrong, I do like following the team, but the coverage seems a bit excessive. Yesterday they even reran a feature they had already aired on the making of Team Garmin (Slipstream).
Anyway, I did get a giggle out of the F-Bomb Vaughters dropped on the air yesterday during Millar's ITT. Whoops!

I ride with a club that has monthly meetings and brings in guest speakers. The club?s next speaker will be from a Garmin rep. I will tell them that they are milking this team Garmin thing a little too much.
I have been recording all of the TDF stages but haven't watched them yet. By the time I watch them the event will probably be over. I am trying to avoid hearing the results so it doesn't ruin the excitement when I actually do sit down and watch them.

I dunno, an American team with largely American riders, that is doing quite well, sponsored by an American company that makes some pretty good products that are bicycle related. And team Columbia too. Let's toot those horns.
Milking the Garmin thing too much? Ask him how much Garmin is spending to be the prime sponsor. A buttload you can bet. They should milk it for all it's worth, they paid for it! Just like Trek used to, and now Columbia and Felt too for that matter.
Versus is following the American teams because they have the TV rights to broadcast the tour in the U.S., so to build viewers now that Lance is no longer racing, they are playing the "American" card.

Personally, I think its a TOTAL genius move by Garmin. I am a big fan of their products and company and couldn't be more excited of the commitment they are showing towards cycling and racing.
I think the thing that kinda annoys me is that Versus is covering Garmin so heavily. Like Dave said, there is another American team out there and I guess I would like to see a little more features on them perhaps.
It could be that Garmin is getting more airtime because they have more (3 of the total 4) American riders. It probably also doesn't hurt that their Director Sportif and Owner are also American. The only other American riding is Big George who captains Team Columbia.
Anyway, maybe my post came off a bit harsh. I'm not pissed or anything, I'm very glad to get domestic coverage of the TDF. I just wish they had a little more coverage of the other American team.

I have become a very loyal Garmin customer because they stand behind their product. I had problems with a re-furbished Edge 305. Garmin sent me out a new one and not just the head unit but a new unit in the box with a heart rate monitor, software and mounting hardware.
Every time I have had any dealing with Garmin, they have done everything possible to make sure I am satisfied.

Well right then. Today Versus followed Team Columbia in their car. Woohoo!

White bar tape and white saddles seem to be all the rage this season.
