Go nude (no paint what so ever on the frame) if you can. Paint does not inherently stick to bicycle frames. I just noticed a chip on the downtube on my steel touring bike, and it has fenders! Ti and carbon are the only two frame materials you don't need to paint, so why would you want to? You have to paint steel and AL, so get a hot paint job on those frame, but carbon, keep it nude. You will have to use a sunscreen on the nude carbon, but it is not a big deal unless you do a lot of riding in the wet.

Ask Dean what your paint finishing options are and how much it would be to go nude from where you are not, vs how much to repaint, or touch up what you have. It may be cheaper to go nude.

Welcome to the Calfee club.
