Just wanted to say that my Luna Fixie is almost finished. I should have her on the road tomorrow. She's got a Bicycle Specialities T/A track crank, 1/8th inch width 44 chainring and a T/A BB with a steel axle, 16 tooth Surly cog. I ended up buying an Alpha Q cross fork on eBay which was about 5 mm too short. But I was real impressed with the quality of it, so I ordered one and the LBS is going to install it today. Record threadless headset (decided to save $50 over a King, which may be overkill for the road). I've got a lot of Salsa Stems that I bought on eBay, one of those should work; and an ITM Milenium Bar that I'll probably change later for something without grooves. I'll be running a canti on the bike, and I'll probably run a rear fender all the time, with a front removable job, but we'll see how I like it. I may just get some SKS race blade removable fenders - a buddy is getting some and I want to see how he likes them. I picked up a 20 spoke radial DT bladed w/Phil Wood road hub front wheel. I've got a smooth commute so hopefully that will give me an extra 1/2 MPH or so on the flat-downhill roads that make up my ride in, and give the headwinds I face on the ride home a lesser bite. I've still got my old Superbe Pro Hub on the back, laced to an MA40. It was designed as a bombproof messenger wheel, which it was. Since I really need different gears riding in and riding home, I'm going to get a flip/flop hub pretty soon, once I'm sure of the gears that I'll need (and I make a little more bank on eBay selling some old parts and a couple frames). No brake hoods, not my style, running a cross brake lever for the front brake. Riding fixed all the time, no need for a back brake. Thompson seatpin. I want to upgrade my Arione road bike saddle to the carbon version and trickle down the regular Arione to this bike, so I'll be running a San Marco Era until that happens. I'll post some pictures when it is finished. The frame is built like a Luna Cross so it'll take like 32s in the back and the fork will allow a 45, so it'll work well in the snow, and will go real fast with 23s in the dry. I could even do cross races on it with a fixed gear! Go Calfee!
