Well I finally came up with some extra money to order some new components for my new IF. I was planning on running the Ultegra group that was on my last bike. Once my friends found out about this they basicly told me that my life would be in danger if I put used ultegra on a new ti crown jewel. After trying to justify it to both myself and them I finally gave in.
I did a little research and found out that the new fsa carbon team crankset that I bought would be compatible with campy. I also found out that I can buy a new cassette body thing-a-majig to make my hugi 240 rear hub campy compatible. At first I was going to go with chorus but then I figured for relatively little extra I could get record. Anywho, here is how my build is looking so far. Let me know what ya think.
IF crown jewel compact frame
Ouza Pro fork
Kestrel EMS Pro SL bar (already have)
Giant carbon stem (already have and no logo on it)
Easton EC70 carbon seatpost (already have)
Specialized body geometry pro saddle (everyone has their own choice for saddles, this is mine)
2004 Campy Record shifters (ordered today)
2004 Campy Record front derailleur (carbon) (ordered today)
2004 Campy Record rear derailleur (carbon) (ordered today)
2004 Campy Chorus 13-29 cassette (ordered today)
2004 Campy Chain (ordered today)
FSA Carbon Pro Team crankset (39/53)
FSA Platinum Pro Ti bottom bracket
Crank brothers egg beaters (stainless) (already have)
Hugi 240 hubs laced to Sun ME14A rims w/ti quick release
Michelin Pro Race tires (already have)
I still haven't decided on brakes, leaning towards Cane Creek BRS-200 SL Titanium Brake Calipers though. I am also debating between a record headset or a king headset. Other than that and picking out some bar tape I'm pretty much just waiting for the frame. BTW, does anyone else think it's nuts that a lock ring is not included with campy cassettes?
Now all I have to do until the end of July is think about riding this thing. Waiting for this frame is killing me! Anyway, what ya think? Will this build be worthy of the frame?
