Donn new member Reged: 02/20/04 Posts: 1 Best used Merckx frame for under $600?       02/20/04 01:44 AM (24.191.49.58) Edit   Reply   Quote   For some 16 years I have been on a Merckx Corse Extra frame, one made out of Columbus (SL, I believe) tubes, with Shimano Dura-Ace/Ultegria mix components. It has served me well but now the whole package is showing its age. It is also a heavy frame. So I have decided to find something newer but am on a limited budget. My strategy: buy a new rather than a used Ultegra group but put it on the best used Mercky frame (59 or 60 cm) I can find for under $600. My main use: strong training rides with some masters road races. I am lookng for light but not at the expense of strength. What better place to turn but to this forum for advice? I have my eye on a 2000 Corsa-01 but have no experience with it. Would this be a good candidate? If not, what would you recommend? Cheers, Donn Post Extras
