S**T! The first "ding" in my new Merckx Race
      01/13/04 01:35 AM (65.65.99.138)

I threw my chain last Friday. I guess the outside stop was set too far out, thus giving the front der. release to much momentum and it threw it off inside. This immediately got caught in the chain ring arm and RAMMED the chain into the chain stay. Dented the chain stay and BENT the chain. Had to get a new one. Now I have a fingertip sized dent in the chain stay with some nicks (which I am keeping a close watch on). I just hope it does not degrade (ie. break) as I have only had the bike for a month!. The good thing is that you don't see it because of the chain rings. The bad thing is - I know it's there! Oh, well. I'll just have to wear it out this year and buy a Majestic next year!

BTW - I went for 80 miles yesterday and felt great except for the sore quads (hills and some speed here and there). The Merckx is as close to a perfect fit for me as I believe I could ever get! Love it!
