Saturday I ventured from San Luis Obispo to San Simeon on the Stiletto, about 78 miles. I averaged 18.8 miles per hour and this included sub-par speeds for about 20 miles due to thick fog and dew making it hard to see. I was testing the bike with a cobra seat vs the zephyr seat and I have a couple of observations; the cobra seat is more comfortable and produces less "recumbutt" and smoothes the road much more than the zephyr as well as the hardback providing less flex. I did not on this trip see a speed difference because of the hardshell vs mesh back like I had hoped for and it places you slightly higher than the zephyr seat (less aero). Additionally, the zephyr seat without the thick back pad gave me more room for fit on the bike, this makes it very very close with the cobra. In the end I would still choose the cobra seat for it's incredible long distance comfort, which surprised me even without the speed gain. The ride was sublime on this bike from slow speeds to 40mph it is stable and builds confidence.
