84 mile ride on Stiletto...
      05/08/06 05:11 PM (72.29.169.198)

It's been about four months since I bought the Stiletto. I've taken off the water bottle cages, got a new tail scaffold and bodysock, and have put on about 2,100 miles. Lately i've taken to riding without the bodysock and it's good to be in the open, the front fairing stays though. So far everything is going great with the bike, no problems...new chain, some cable maintenance and a new HID light that allows early and late riding.

I'm adjusting very well to the bike now and find my climbing to be improving significantly as I can stay with upright riders of similar caliber to me on most grades... miles makes a huge difference!

This Saturday I did an 84 mile run at a slower pace up the coast again but added some detours through Los Osos and Morro Bay. I started out slow with the idea in mind of enjoying the scenery, ahem, fog fog and more fog. The "smell the roses pace" lasted for the first 43 miles but turned out too tedious to maintain so on the way back I hammered home, tired of wet and cold. Took about 4:51 minutes with 4733 feet of climb...trip up avg about 15 mph and back averaged well over 20mph, solo. Total avg mph 17.3 with a heavy load and poor visibility.

Still loving the Calfee,

michael on the coast...
