some rides are just worth repeating....
      05/23/06 02:04 AM (24.180.10.40)

84 miles up the coast again. I was told that it would take about 3,000 miles of riding to develop a good base. I was also told that I should concentrate on spinning technique. I was also told to alternate hard and easy days, work on sprints, and on long rides to fuel correctly...well, all of this was spot on. I did a time trial at the beginning of my bike riding career, 6 months ago, and on a 20k I avg 20.5 mph. I could now do a tt at about the mid to upper 20s range and what I use to think of as a hill I now see as a speed bump. I was also told to forget about buying disc wheels and every speed gizmo in favor of training the engine...it's been great to have good advice. A rider I did the 84 miles with this weekend said to me at the end "you do that bike justice". It's a great bike and it's fun to make a good showing of it. If all goes as planned i'll turn in some good TT with it.
