Best time so far...22.1 avg woohoo, rest was good: Bikefanclub.com

I recently set out to do a one hour speed run on the stiletto. I used a front fairing but no bodysock. The course starts at the crest of a short hill that rises for the next couple of miles through town and a stoplight heading from san luis obispo to morro bay. The route has a short flat that follows a half mile 7-12% grade and then a long flat to morro bay that joins a winding road to los osos and then back to slo. The road is fairly smooth but often has fog so thick at the time I ride that I can hardly see, this day was no different but then there was no wind,

I got lucky and did not hit the first light and have been pushing much higher gears for two weeks, almost exclusively 3rd chainring, which has improved my times significantly as my strength has grown. I mainted a fast pace up until the first steep hill which took me down to about 10-11 mph followed by a slight downgrade with rollers for the next 8 miles where I avg 28mph. I crested a hill at the halfway mark and confronted very thick fog, pulled my glasses down to see and hammered on. As I arrived at the turnoff I slowed for traffic and took off down the frontage road which has three short 1/4 mile hills which I plowed through to arrive at a stoplight, made my turn and began the trip home. This entails one short hill that is followed by a downhill and a long shallow ascent for a few miles followed by the same descent for a couple miles. I hit 1:00:02 and registered a 22.1 avg for the solo run(overall time compared to lap time showed 23.05 mi and 22.1mph avg), my best time yet with or without a sock for this distance. Maybe it was the new Hed3 wheel? nah...but im sure it did not hurt and it looks cool.
