I can honestly say that in my little test world...my aluminum CAAD7 is definitely more comfortable to ride over any distance than my steel Serotta Atlanta. Same frame size (56cm) I have the same seats (Flite ti), aluminum setback posts (Thomson on Atlanta, Cannondale on the CAAD7), and Ksyrium wheels on both (same wheels and tires actually as I just switch them between bikes). I have tried to set my fit as near as possible to the same position relative to BB on each. On 75 to 100 miles of hard riding, my butt and body feel a bit beat on the Serotta. I could ride the Cannondale all day long with much less body fatigue.
Both bikes handle well. Both are fun to ride. They seem equally stiff and responsive though the CAAD7 is 2 lbs lighter. Asthetically I like the steel bike with lugs, though the Cdale, with it's shaped, swaged tubes is cool in it's own right.
