Hi!
I have a 2-year old D'fly. To my knowledge (assuming you're getting stock geometry, etc.) the only change to the D'fly in recent years --- new in 2004 --- is the new "euro" design lookin' lugs. Nothing has changed with respect to weight, performance, etc.
Definitely try to get the LBS to pay for the warrantee transfer if ya can. This should be easy enough to do since the frame's being returned to Calfee for the new paint, etc. If you can't, and you're willing to wait, you should probably walk away from the deal and try to buy a used D'fly from somewhere else. For example, you could probably find a caring D'Fly owner who would sell you a fully built bike (Campy Record) for around $4,300. That person would also transfer the warrentee and you'd net out better.
So, ya see, the 25 year transferable warrantee really takes away the need to buy your frame from a shop. Thanks Craig!
Good luck!
