<My big problem in coming as long as I can cash in miles is fear for either of my Calfee's. Those security people at airports are not baggage friendly and bike cases are hard to open and close. Somebody posted once their frame was trashed and you are just out and it is tough luck.>
One shipping option that some have used is to send their bikes by "fedex" to the destination. You can insure the bike and if damaged, claim the full replacement value.
In contrast, I believe the airlines will give you only so many dollars/per lb! Hey, a lightweight 15-19lb Calfee or lighter, ain't gonna get you anywhere near what you will need to replace it!
