Then how about some of that water spashing you in your face from the front tyre, do you know where its been or what was on the road that it diluted.HMMMMMMMMMMMMMM.
And that's why my favorite bike is my fixed gear with full fenders. Not only is it a blast to ride ... but it's easy and cheap to maintain. The seals on the ultegra bb, which was cheap at like 20 bucks anyway, have worked very well so far ... and the nice 1/8" chain has proven to be very durable so far, and even if the chain wears out fast, at 6 bucks, no big deal. Cleanup only takes a couple minutes with only a few moving parts to worry about. Seals on the hubs have worked very well so far too.
Hmm ... with snowy season upon us in upstate snow NY, the roads are frequently wet, and the bike path will be frequently if not continuously covered in soon. I sure am not gonna let a little water, snow and debris keep me off my bike. I just made the maintenance simpler and the parts selection cheap
