I just turned my old road bike into a rain bike. My original race bike in fact. I had to make it into a double...seriously it didn't start out that way.... and enjoyed doing it cheap, that is, Ebay parts. I ended up with an older but unused durace bottom bracket (throw in with the crank, all for under $100, so what the heck). It will be interesting to see if this bb holds up. It is the kind with the old fashioned seal..the old 7700... and I'm told a new ultegra bb has a better seal. In Oregon, it will get a real test.
Full fenders and how. I love em already. It took a bit of doing to get full fenders onto such a small bike. The local bike shop, which has a total genius of a mechanic, put em on for me. He had to make a little device to fit the fender over the brake...homemade version of the thing River City sells. Actually the fender is cut in two and held together by this thingy, which goes over the brake.
