Ours is a few years old, so it has the lateral tube. I have a friend who has ridden both types of Calfees, he says that they ride simlarly. The Tetra provided a significantly more plush ride than the other bikes, but did not seem at all "flexy". The handling of the Tetra is quicker than the Santana, similar to the CoMotion. For us, it came down to comfort...The Calfee was a more forgiving ride. Let me know if you have any specific questions, I'd be happy to offer an opinion. Mike Post Extras
