And while I don't like the looks of the Specialized bikes in this class, at least they went with bold styling.
The blue and white Synapse looks better, but not great - just ordinary which beats stripped any day. How many comfort riders want a flat black bike?
A little late to the party, but...
I bought a Matte Black (BBQ) Cannondale Synapse Carbon 2 in June of 2006. I have to say that anyone who refers to the Synapse as a "comfort bike" either has a pretty twisted definition of "comfort", or has been riding on an alcohol-soaked razor blade. Yes, it has a slightly longer wheelbase & slighly more relaxed HTA than their full-on racers, but it's still one of the most deft handling bikes I've ever had the pleasure of riding. Not as twitchy as some, and maybe it does tend to prefer [sic] a straight line more noticeably than a CAAD8 or a System6...but under an experienced rider the Synapse will go head-to-head with those bikes easily.
"A more upright position"??? I suppose if I stuck another half dozen spacers under the stem I could achieve that. This bike gets as aggressive as any non-pro riding a $3000 bike needs to be.
And I freakin' *LOVE* the matte black finish!
