Just weight. They work great just take care when packing the frame so you don't damage the carbon by having parts rub on each other. I have a Kirk road frame and a Moots MTB with S&S couplers and really like them. I think a steel or Ti frame makes more sense for a travel bike just because of the additional abuse they can and will take.
