I have been riding with a friend that tells me that something is wrong with my Topolino Wheels. Here is how he made his determination:
* On a slight incline his bike rolls much faster down hills.
* On flat ground it appears that I am pedaling with much more effort (I know this is hard to quantify) to maintain the same speed as him.
* He is considerably faster without much effort and within a couple of minutes I can hardly see him in front of me.
We exchanged bikes and his bike appears to roll with less effort than mine. However, it was his comment about how his Specialized was stiffer and faster than my Calfee that did it. You can call me slow but don't call my bike slow.
Is it possible that I am too heavy for these Topolino Wheels? I am 220 lbs. Is it possible that the wheels are not stiff enough and are flexing under my weight?
If I can get better performance out of a different set of wheels, I would change. I know this is a tall order, but here is what I would like to see in a wheelset:
* Durable (I have had problems with my Topolinos)
* Comfortable on long rides
* Light weight and fast
