Interestingly enough though, and based on published articles and inteviews, Calfee sources bamboo from Taiwan.... the hemp comes from Romania ... and has actually considered moving the frame production to Taiwan while also investigating home-grown, California bamboo.
I'm personally struggling with an intense desire to order a Bamboo tandem as a compliment to our S&S equipped Tetra Travel Tandem. Unfortunately, our last remaining steel Erickson tandem would become the parts donor and be relegated to wall art: this then is the connundrum.
I initially had some concerns about just how strong the open Calfee Bamboo tandem frames would be; however, I recently learned that Calfee has produced a Bamboo triplet for three Lutheran ministers who will be going on a year-long "Tour de Revs": http://wvgazette.com/News/200805290539
