John,
interesting that you had the same issues as us. But I have you beat. It took Parlee 5 months to complete our bikes which arrived with spots and poor top coats that have chipped over time. I wrote with my concerns and it took Parlee 2 months to respond. The only reason I heard anything at all? Because after two months I resent the letter. A week later I phoned. Excellent customer service! I was told by Isabel Parlee the she put a call to the the dealer we purchased our bikes from who was supposed to have spoken to me. He never did. To begin with, I wrote to Bob Parlee. Not Isabel. The contact should of been between Parlee and myself. Not Isabel and the bike shop.
The customer service from Parlee STINKS. NEVER in my life had I ever been faced with this type of indifference to the customers satisfaction. Not only indifference, but rudeness. I bought Parlee because it was a Mom and Pop type of place. Made in the USA Massachusettes. Great reviews on the ride. So you would THINK that the customer service would be impeccable. How disappointing.
When I spoke to Isabelle Parlee she told me that they don't put a heavy top coat on the bike because we Parlee riders are weight conscious. How much weight does a top coat weigh? And, yes, with out this "PROPER" top coat, my swanky custom paint job is a mess with dings everywhere because it was not protected. And, yes, we were advised several times during our 20 week wait, that Parlee was having issues with their painters. Issues indeed, as we suffered their issues. Now, two years later, my bike is at a new local painter because I was frightened the paint would all disappear. I now know that my bike will look sweeter than ever, especially since the words PARLEE will be removed because they deserve NO FREE ADVERTISING from me. That ought to shave off a few grams of as well.
Customer service, an updated carbon clamp, or even a free Parlee shirt would have gone a long way, but Isabelle wouldn't let me get a word in edge wise. She is hell bent on holding her pennies. The Leona Helmsley of the biking world.
I can go on and on but you really don't want me to use the ENTIRE fan club blog section do you?
